Ahead of the launch of Energy Catalyst Programme Round 8, which has the aim of bringing more international partners into the projects, we’re looking to work with UK innovators to help them understand these international markets.
Innovate UK’s Energy Catalyst programme aims to support businesses to develop innovative, sustainable energy technologies and business models to accelerate clean energy transition in developing and emerging economies. A key focus is to address the clean energy access challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa and South/South East Asia. Energy Catalyst is funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) and Department for International Development (DfID) as part of their Transforming Energy Access programme.
Energy Catalyst Round 8 is expected to launch in June 2020 and is likely to follow similar scope and eligibility to Round 7 which had early, mid and late streams for projects at different stages of maturity. An important element of the programme is the identification of in-country partners and understanding the challenges of working in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
To help potential applicants think about these aspects in advance of the official competition launch, Innovate UK together with Knowledge Transfer Network, is hosting two events (Webinar).
Participants will hear about:
- the lessons learned by previous competition winners
- what to consider when putting together a partnership
- where to turn for help with finding project partners
- the dos and don’ts of applying for funding.
There will be opportunity to ask questions of the competition leads and to network with other organisations interested in the competition. Think of it as getting a head-start in the application process!
